The astrology forecast for the week of September 19, 2022 through September 25, 2022 features three major planetary aspects (Venus trine Uranus, Sun conjunct Mercury Rx, and Venus oppose Neptune), the Sun and Mercury Rx change signs, and we have a New Moon in Libra.

Cosmic Overview

This week Mercury retrogrades back into the sign of Virgo, and this gives me the opportunity to describe what this means.  When a planet moves back into another sign, it means there is unfinished business in the sign it returns to. Currently, Mercury is in Libra.  Mercury in Libra understands life by weighing the opinions and ideas of others to make well-rounded choices. On Friday, Mercury moves out of the sign of the sales and moves back into the sign of Virgo.  Mercury in Virgo is about understanding life through facts and paying attention to details. So, Mercury will do us a solid this week by letting us review the facts and details again, so we can make better informed decisions once he turns direct. 

Of course, while Mercury remains retrograde (until October 2nd), we still need to pay attention to the way we communicate, try to be as clear and concise as possible when conveying information, and expect plans to go awry.

Furthermore, it’s a great day to revise short-term goals to meet your immediate needs.

Venus opposing Neptune is a difficult aspect, because it forces us to look at relationships for what they are not what we would like them to be.  If you are idealistic about your relationships, then you could experience some trouble today. This is an aspect that encourages you to accept people for who they are – the good, the bad, and the ugly.  You will notice that the level of serenity in your relationships will be proportional to your expectations. However, be on guard, Venus oppose Neptune is also an aspect of deception. In all interpersonal situations, trust but VERIFY.

We reach the heart of Libra season on September 25th, with the New Moon in the sign of the scales. Ordinarily, this would be an excellent time to draw a new relationship to you, but Mercury is currently retrograde, and Venus (the ruler of Libra) is in her fall in Virgo. So instead, use this New Moon to create new paradigms within your current relationships, which are not just romantic ones.

If you are currently single, you can list all the attributes you would like out of a mate, and do some cleansing magic to signify your fresh start. If you are in a relationship, you can use the New Moon to reset (such a lovely Mercury Rx word) the energies and create a more fulfilling dynamic that will help improve the relationship’s overall health.  In other relationships, you can modify how you work with the New Moon based on the needs of that relationship.  The key is to formulate new and productive ways to make them healthier.

Cosmic Overview

The aspect of the week is the Sun opposing Neptune in Pisces. This is an incredibly difficult aspect that often feels icky and self-defeating. In astrology, the Sun reflects our ego, our sense of identity, and our inner destiny.

Now, to work with the Sun oppose Neptune productively requires a lot of humility, introspection, and self-honesty. We need to admit our mistakes, and through our confessions we find redemption. The problem is that our first reaction to inner issues is to project the problem outside ourselves, even to the point where we identify with victim mindsets.

I recently seen a meme on Facebook that said, “I don’t know who needs to hear this, but whatever you are going through, it’s your fault.” I’m sure it amused many people, or they found it offensive, but unfortunately it is mostly true. We rarely like to face our personal responsibilities, and how our choices and decisions ultimately create our experiences. Furthermore, no matter our experiences, they mold who we are as individuals. Some people stay stuck in their experiences and pain, and have difficulties moving beyond them.  Yet, it is by getting in touch with our experiences, our hurts, our pain, and by pressing forward, we find inner meaning and experience growth.

On a more practical level, the Sun oppose Neptune is a time of low energy, confusion, and uncertainty.  You may experience difficulties in your relationships with others, and you will want to avoid doing anything against your will, because that will ultimately lead to resentment. Also, avoid shady people, because they will take advantage of you if they can.

Venus square Mars is a difficult aspect that often leads to disagreements, arguments, and power struggles. In most cases, there are already underlying problems in the relationship waiting for the right time to surface. Unfortunately, that time is now. Attempt to be amicable in your discussions, and try to see the other person’s view. A clash of egos could lead to long-term damage.

The Moon square Neptune can make you feel overwhelmed by your environment, so try to stay as grounded as possible. The astrology forecast for the week of September 5, 2022 through September 11, 2022 features one major aspect (The Sun trine Uranus), Venus moves out of Leo and into Virgo, a Full Moon occurs in Pisces, and Mercury turns retrograde in Libra.

The first full week of September starts slowly, but the weekend packs quite a punch. Let’s dive right in.

Cosmic Overview

This week, Mercury turns retrograde in Libra. Libra is the sign associated with relationships (all of them), so you can expect relationship issues, especially ones unresolved, to resurface. Libra is also associated with law and legal issues.  You may need to revise contracts, tend to minor legal issues (like paying traffic tickets), or refile legal documents.  Additionally, look at your personal chart to the house where Libra resides, because matters related to that house will need to be dealt with. 

Here is an overview of the do’s and don’ts I recommend you pay attention to during the retrograde.

Mercury Rx Dirty Dozen! Tips and Tricks to Wrangling the Trickster God

  1. Make sure you go over anything contractual thoroughly.  Make sure all the i’s are dotted and all the t’s are crossed. Then, if you can get away with it, wait until after the retrograde to sign on the dotted line. 
  2. Avoid starting anything new.  New projects tend to have communication problems and mishaps when initiated during this process.
  3. Put a watch on your tongue.  (If it is not worth saying, don’t say it)
  4. Check your vehicles for any potential problems.  Before Mercury goes retrograde, is the best time for a service call.
  5. Avoid buying real estate or renting apartments.  Usually, this means you will move again during a future Mercury Rx.
  6. Using mail delivery services that offer tracking and insurance – especially now, since the Post Office has still not recovered from the pandemic.
  7. Check, recheck, and check again any travel plans you have or appointments on the books.
  8. If you do travel, don’t take anything of importance or value. Only bring items that you do not care if they are lost or stolen.
  9. Expect people from the past to resurface.  However, once they crawl out of whatever cavern they came from, proceed with caution.
  10. Back up all electronic devices.
  11. Avoid buying an automobile. 
  12. Mercury Rx is a great time to scour places (online and offline) for great deals!

So, she trades in her high heels and glamorous jewelry for a Swiffer and a vacuum cleaner, which is not pleasing to Venus, and why she is considered in her fall in the sign of the maiden.  Regardless, it’s time for some relationship maintenance. Venus in Virgo is an excellent time to look at what you want out of relationships, and take steps to get your needs fulfilled, especially since she is in mutual reception with Mercury, who turns retrograde on Friday. This will ultimately make you feel more grounded and secure within your relationships, and help them grow.  Avoid fearful mindsets if you need to put up boundaries. If someone leaves you because they don’t want to acknowledge your needs, then the truth is you don’t need them.

The astrology forecast for the week of August 29, 2022 through September 4, 2022 features two planetary aspects – Mars sextile Jupiter and Mercury oppose Jupiter.

After a dramatic month (and why should we expect anything less from Leo season), August ends with the cosmos slowing down, which will be a relief for many.

So, let’s get the show on the road and dive right in.

Cosmic Overview

This week, Jupiter is our major player, and he is currently retrograde in ambitious Aries.

Now, let me reassure you, Jupiter retrograde is not Mercury retrograde – not even close.  Jupiter rules the sign of Sagittarius and Pisces, neither of which are personal signs. So, our daily lives are not affected (unless Jupiter Rx aspects a personal planet, so watch for planets you have in the first 10 degrees of cardinal signs, which are Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. After October 29th, the last 5 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces).  Instead, Jupiter has to do with big picture concerns.

In astrology, Jupiter is the Big Kahuna.  He is the great benefic – our cosmic Santa Claus.  He bestows gifts, wisdom, and is the personal luck generator of the horoscope.  Jupiter has been moving through fiery Aries, an ambitious sign that is highly competitive, is concerned with personal agenda, and loves to win for the pure glory of all the possibilities that arise from victory.  You know, to the victor goes the spoils!

While Jupiter is retrograde, he gives you the opportunity to review the goals and aspirations you’ve pursued since the beginning of May.  Are you happy with the direction you are headed in? Do you need to tweak your long-term objectives? Mercury-Jupiter aspects are great for signing documents, finalizing contracts, and focusing on plans for the future. So, your mood should be relatively optimistic throughout the day.

Now, a word to the wise: Take advantage of this aspect while you can. Next week, Mercury turns retrograde, and there will not be another easy aspect to Jupiter, while Mercury is direct, until November 1.

Trouble is brewing early in the day, as Mercury forms a nasty aspect to Pluto in Capricorn. The most significant difficulty with Mercury square Pluto is that it can easily provoke arguments. Mercury rules the mind, and Pluto is about power. So, when we put these two principles together, there is a tendency to try to get people to think as we do, or for them to try to force us into thinking like them. But, of course, whenever you try to apply pressure (squares) to someone, there becomes a need to stand one’s ground. So, it’s best to avoid controversial or ‘hot button’ topics today. Also, Mercury square Pluto can lead to obsessive thoughts and, in some cases, paranoia.

The best way to work with Mercury square Pluto is through introspection. You can use this energy to dig deep within your soul and discover insights you didn’t know or weren’t aware of before. If worked with correctly, this aspect can be life-altering.

There is a ray of sunshine on Wednesday – the Sun moves out of Virgo and into Libra. Although the tension of Mercury square Pluto and the upcoming Venus in opposition to Uranus may be high, the Sun in Libra may be balanced enough that people respond proactively.

Last week, Venus formed a gnarly square to Saturn. I wrote about it in last week’s forecast. This week, Venus makes an equally challenging aspect, as she opposes Uranus in Taurus.

On its most basic level, Venus oppose Uranus, which means that upsetting events may occur in relationships, leaving you feeling shaken up and unsettled.  However, Venus oppose Uranus, which indicates that ritualistic everyday experience in relationships will leave you unsatisfied. Of course, suppose we don’t ‘live’ life to the fullest. In that case, it tends to erupt unconsciously, leading to sudden upset and potential breakups (especially if it triggers your natal chart) because Uranus seeks freedom from conventional values it perceives as restricting and monotonous.

On the practical level, it’s important to spice up your relationships on your own. If you find things getting too dull or repetitive, and your relationship is losing its magic, then do what you can to liven it up. This will feed your relationship with new experiences, enriching them with growth opportunities.

This week, Venus continues to move through Scorpio. Any planet moving through the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) will reactivate the Saturn square Uranus in the cosmos, which is still within orb.  This reactivation is called translation of light.

Let’s break this down.

Venus in Scorpio reflects a desire for emotional depth and closeness in relationships.  In the sign of the scorpion, she likes to get things out in the open and prefers honesty over civility. Since Venus is in detriment, Scorpio is not her natural habitat. She is unhappy there, but she would rather know the truth regardless of how displeasing it is to her.

Venus will square Saturn first.  Saturn is our limitations, boundaries, and responsibilities. Venus square Saturn is a frustrating combo that can cause self-doubt and insecurities. It can lead to feelings of isolation and loneliness, and people often make ‘easy’ decisions that please others rather than satisfy themselves.

Venus will oppose Uranus next week, which has its own challenges. Uranus likes independence and freedom, and often shakes things up if he feels constricted and confined. Venus oppose Uranus is tense and wants to break free, which can lead to upsetting events in relationships – if they are not managed effectively.

I’m going to be blunt – it’s my trademark. Venus mixed up with Saturn square Uranus can feel like a roller-coaster ride at the state fair.  It has many ups and downs. However, working with this energy ‘proactively’ means you have to manage your need for closeness with your need for independence. You may need to have difficult conversations with people, stand your ground, and be flexible enough to consider the needs of others. The more inflexible you are, the more difficult this may be.

Further, some relationships may end up irreparable. If that’s the case, the relationship did not have the ingredients necessary to stay the course. And, although endings are complex and sometimes emotionally tumultuous, they may be necessary for the growth of your soul.

It’s an excellent time to share ideas and visions for the future and think outside the box. First, on Tuesday, the Sun opposes Neptune in Pisces. Sun oppose Neptune is a highly confusing aspect, and it can lead to moments of uncertainty. It’s best not to make decisions under this influence, because you may end up questioning your choices. Another thing to note, while the Sun opposes Neptune, is that you may feel overwhelmed by life and your current situation. Try to avoid falling into a victim mindset because it won’t resolve your issues; it simply feeds your anxiety.

Later in the day, Mars moves out of Virgo and into Libra.  Mars doesn’t like the sign of Lira much because he is in detriment in the sign of the scales. Mars wants to act, and when he is in Libra, he must consider the thoughts and ideas of others. Of course, this is frustrating for the War God. While Mars is in Libra, it’s necessary to pause before acting and fairly do things, keeping the needs of others in mind when making decisions. Mars remains in Libra until October 31, 2021.

The Moon spends its first full day in responsible Capricorn. During the morning hours, the Moon trines Uranus, and you may feel a little restless, especially if you have a lot to accomplish. There is a small warning: The three planetary aspects that occur today are trines, which are generally favorable. However, since the energy is relatively light and harmonious, we may sit on our laurels and let the energy pass us by. So, word to the wise – don’t miss your moment!

A notable feature of Mars trine Pluto and Sun trine Uranus is its high oxygen energy. So, you should get a significant energy boost throughout the week. But the biggest thing about this combo is that it ushers in a new cycle of letting go of the old and having the courage to embrace something new.

Mars trine Pluto is about ambition and getting what you want – if you are willing to do the work. So if you’re going to pursue something, now would be an auspicious time to get that going.
