So, this week is a mixed bag of tricks when it comes to astrological aspects, but Saturn in Capricorn rules the roost and despite the day-to-day changes in energy, the need for structure and stability will overlay everything this week.

One of the most interesting aspects of the week is a sextile between Saturn and Neptune.  In 2016, we got a bird’s-eye view when Saturn squared Neptune. Of course, this was expressed through the 2016 presidential election and Brexit.  The forces of structure, stability, entitlement, and the establishment came face to face with the disenfranchised, the invisible, the left behind, and the financially challenged. Although the urban areas thrived over the last decade, the rural areas were forgotten and their communities were decaying, which led to the election of Donald Trump and Britain’s vote to leave the European Union.  However, both the 2016 presidential election and Brexit are shrouded in controversy and potentially corrupt covert behaviors.

This year, Saturn and Neptune are forming a sextile which provides an opportunity for these drastically different planets to come together.  Perhaps, we will see Saturn act compassionately and begin to look at global repercussions rather than the bottom line, which may benefit only a select few.  Alternatively, Neptune may realize that the pathway to an inclusive society may involve everyone putting forth an effort, being responsible, and accepting a drastically changing world that pushed towards a progressive future rather than an antiquated past. Regardless, we must come together in order to heal the pains that divide us and part of that may involve accepting harsh truths and swallowing bitter reality or continue down this dangerous path of never-ending division.

The Moon moves through emotional Scorpio and forms a sextile to Pluto in Capricorn.  Although your emotions may be heightened, it’s still an opportunistic time to stand in your personal power.  Let your feelings be known but remember to keep other people’s feelings in mind, as well.

On Tuesday, you will find the need to express yourself important, not only because you have something to say, but because newly discovered insights into yourself have made self-expression the main concern and part of your greater purpose.  You may even find that you will earn others respect by speaking your truth.

The Moon moves through joyful Sagittarius and makes wonderful aspects to Venus and Uranus.  The next two days are great to spend time with loves ones and perhaps do something different to spice up your love life. This energy will continue through the weekend because Venus will trine Uranus on Saturday.  Sometimes, we all need to let down our hair a little.

We take a small break from the positive energy of the past few days when Mars forms a difficult aspect to Pluto.  On one hand, this aspect is supercharged to pursue your ambitions and you are very motivated to level up. On the other hand, you may find opposition from others and they may attempt to thwart your progress.  You need to keep your cool and avoid doing anything underhanded or ruthless.  Also, avoid dangerous areas because Mars square Pluto can be violent.

The Weekend

The Moon moves through structured Capricorn over the weekend, which means that it’s a great weekend to wrap up loose ends or take care of long-term responsibilities.

On Sunday, Mercury forms a lovely opportunistic sextile to Jupiter.  Despite it being a weekend, it’s a great time for business opportunities or strategic planning.  Sunday is also a great day for contractual obligations.

Cosmic Weather Forecast – January 14, 2019 – January 20, 2019

This week is filled to the brim with astrological energy – both beneficial and challenging.

So, buckle up buttercup, and prepare for some turbulence.

We begin the week with the Sun in Aquarius, and Aquarius seasons is one of my favorite seasons of the year because it allows us to break free of anything that has been holding us back and Aquarius is our personal revolution month to let go of self-defeating behaviors, relationships, careers, or groups that are holding us back.

Aquarius is not concerned with the now, it is concerned with the future and wants to leave the past behind.  This might be difficult for earthy (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) dispositions, but we all (even the earth signs) have things we need to eliminate from our lives.  The good news is that Uranus, Aquarius’ co-ruler, is moving through energetic Aries and gives us the boost of energy necessary to take the challenge to free ourselves once and for all.  Whereas Saturn, Aquarius other co-ruler is moving through its own sign of Capricorn ensuring that we will land on solid ground if we are willing to do the work and put for the effort necessary to move forward, which gives us the green light to take risks.

In other cosmic news, we have a major lunar eclipse on Monday in fiery Leo.

Eclipses are complex and influence many areas of life, especially the political, which is why there’s a flurry of news around eclipses.  We have experienced a plethora of never-ending breaking news since the solar eclipse occurred in Capricorn two weeks ago.  Moreover, you can expect more political turbulence with the lunar eclipse, as well.

On the personal level, the sign of Leo involves self-focus and you will notice a lot of people that are rather self-involved over the next two weeks, perhaps annoyingly so.  But all astrological positions have a purpose including the lunar eclipse in Leo.  On a deeper level, this Leonine eclipse reflects a six-month period where we focus on our personal needs apart from the group.  In other words, when nobody is around and when there isn’t anyone looking, who are you? And perhaps, more importantly, who do you want to be?

Besides the lunar eclipse in Leo, we have a major aspect between Mars and Saturn that occurs on Monday.

First, let me say that these two planets together are very frustrating, and it will feel like you are going no place in a hurry.  You may feel that people (including family members and loved ones) are discouraging your desires and they may even doubt your actions, which may lead to feelings of insecurity, self-doubt, and succumbing to your fears.  Although these people may have the best of intentions, do not let them stifle your ambitions.  Instead, continue to push forward and realize that slow and steady wins the race and remember the more you persevere and continue to go after the prize, you will ultimately succeed.

You may need to put your material ambitions aside, if even for a day, as Venus and Jupiter conjoin in Sagittarius.  Venus and Jupiter are great for relationships but focus and self-discipline are not two keywords associated with these two planets.  Instead, you may want to focus on your relationships and partnerships because Venus-Jupiter aspects tend to bring out the best in everyone and more ‘good feeling’ activities are useful to increase morale.  This aspect is meant to be enjoyed, so try to have some fun today.

Your mind will be in overdrive today as Mercury in Capricorn forms a difficult square to Uranus in Aries.  Thoughts and ideas will flood your mind and since this is a tense aspect, you may feel anxious and overwhelmed.  You should not focus on activities that require concentration and precision and try to avoid hasty statements (the tongue tends to flap without thinking with Mercury-Uranus aspects) that you may not be able to take back.  Be practice, not reactive.

On Thursday, Mercury moves out of earthy Capricorn and moves into airy Aquarius.  Mercury in Aquarius places ideas and concepts on equal footing to physical reality and this position is great for understanding patterns or how something works.  Mercury, in the sign of the water bearer, likes to get to the truth and will analyze everything in order to discover it, which is particularly useful for problem-solving and making changes in your life.  Mercury remains in Aquarius until February 11, 2019.

The final aspect of the week occurs on Friday when Mars in Aries forms a lovely trine to Jupiter in Sagittarius.

Mars trine Jupiter is an extremely positive aspect.  Pretty much any activity you choose to pursue will turn out successful.  If you need to do something to advance your own cause, this aspect provides you with enormous foresight to achieve your goals.  Take advantage of this energy while it’s available because it won’t happen again until late July.

The Weekend

The Moon spends the weekend moving through Libra and Scorpio and forms a few troubling aspects.  Relationships may be tense, and you may feel overwhelmed emotionally. So, you may want to spend as much time as you can alone or try to avoid others as much as possible until more positive energies are available.

This week, two dominant themes become active, and people’s frustration meters will go through the roof as Venus squares confusing Neptune and Mars square limiting Saturn. So, you may want to clutch your pearls because things are about to get real. VERY REAL!

Capricorn energy remains dominant throughout the week, which is beneficial for business and career opportunities. Since we are still in the New Moon cycle, new opportunities could prove fruitful and you should take advantage of them.  However, this week will be a roller-coaster for relationships. If your relationship is not grounded (in reality) and based on unrealistic expectations, you may feel frustrated, depressed, and dismayed when Venus squares Neptune.  In fact, many relationships may end because Mars square Saturn will leave you feeling like you are driving with the breaks on and leads to reactive behavior.  If your relationship goes through struggles, it’s a good time to do a reality check to make sure that the relationship is aligned with your values and personal desires.  If it’s not, you may need to deal with these issues before your relationship can move forward.

In other cosmic news, Jupiter in Sagittarius dominates this week’s energy.  Despite everything happening in your life, you need to keep your big picture objectives in mind and continue to strive to achieve them.

Cosmic Weather Forecast – January 7, 2018 – January 13, 2018

So, this week we have a powerful astrological aspect that will be active throughout 2019 – Jupiter in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces.  This energy will affect us throughout the year, and it is one of the astrological backdrops to keep in mind.

Now, I am going to be blunt and say that I am concerned about this aspect, especially with the heavy Capricornian influence in the cosmos right now.  Capricorn reflects the need to take responsibility for our lives – meaning we need to deeply look at what is happening in our lives, the choices, and decisions we made to get us to where we are currently (and this may involve swallowing some bitter pills), and the hard work necessary to get us to where we need to be.  However, we often try to escape personal responsibility by casting blame on others, whether it be our bosses, our parents, the community we live in, the government, or opposing energies that are blocking us from getting what we want, and Jupiter square Neptune may add to our self-inflicted victimization.

One feature of Jupiter square Neptune is unbridled optimism.  You know, the belief that there is a magical cosmic Santa Claus that is going to give us what we want, and even though we may wait and wait for it to happen magically, St. Nick is going to arrive, possibly at the 11th hour, and give us our miracle.  The self-help movement calls this magical thinking, and although I’m a big supporter of using magic to achieve results, I also believe that magic requires effort and action on our part.  We need to take control of our lives and be willing to do whatever it takes to get to where we want to be.  Santa doesn’t cause miracles, we do.

This week we need to proactive use Jupiter square Neptune and have faith and inspiration in life, but we need to ground them by accepting reality.  Rather than looking for a redeemer to fix our problems, struggles, and difficulties, we need to accept our current station in life and create viable strategies for improvement.  Otherwise, the harsh reality that Santa doesn’t exist can lead us to depression and apathy.  It’s time to rise above the perpetual victim mindset and become our own hero.

This week starts off with Venus moving (finally) out of Scorpio and into fiery Sagittarius.  After months of dredging the depths of your relationships, you will seek new opportunities to be inspired and intellectually stimulated.  Sagittarius is the sign of the great adventure and while Venus is in the sign of the archer, discovering new potentials and possibilities will keep the relationship exciting.  The more effort you put into exploring new things with your partner, the more your relationship will remain fresh.   Venus remains in Sagittarius until February 4th.

You may need to watch your mouth on Tuesday because Mercury square Mars can lead the tongue into tense discussions and arguments.  You may be irritated or frustrated by those around you, and you may feel the need to speak your mind, often regardless of the consequences. Try to hold off until the energy of Mercury-Mars has passed, which will be the beginning of next week.

The Moon spends the first half of the day in inventive Aquarius and forms an exciting sextile to Uranus.  It’s a great day to do something different and think outside the box.  The Moon will move into emotional Pisces mid-afternoon and forms a square to Venus.  You may feel agitated by others, and it may be best to do something solitary during the evening hours.

The Moon continues to move through Pisces throughout the day and forms opportunistic aspects to Mercury and Saturn.  It’s a great day for creative work or doing anything artistically inclined.  Later Thursday, the Moon conjoins Neptune, which is a powerful time to get in touch with your feelings.

Friday, January 11, 2019

On Friday, we have our third significant aspect of the week when the Sun makes its annual conjunction to Pluto.  Use this energy to repair or transform anything that has broken down, including relationships.  Sun-Pluto aspects allow you to dig deep beneath the surface and gives you the power to understand things on a deeper level.  You can then use this insight to resolve problems or issues in your life. Additionally, avoid individuals that you feel are trying to control you.

The Weekend

Besides the Jupiter-Neptune square I previously discussed, Mercury will conjoin Saturn in Capricorn on Sunday.

You should approach this weekend with caution and may need to revise decisions you have previously made.  Mercury conjunct Saturn is excellent for mental based work that requires accuracy and precision.

The problematic side of Mercury-Saturn is that you will have difficulty communicating or expressing yourself to others and you may need to push away negative self-talk at this time.
