Cosmic Weather Forecast — December 31, 2018 – January 6, 2019

Last week, I hated to see an extremely frustrating aspect before a major holiday.  This week, I hate to see us start the year off with another one as the Sun conjoins Saturn in Capricorn.

But, before I get into this week’s energy, I need to let you know that 2019 is going to be difficult as we prepare for the conjunction of the two astrological baddies, Saturn and Pluto.   I will focus on Saturn and Pluto throughout the year and how it will affect you on the personal level, but this week we get a healthy dose of the energy because a solar eclipse in Capricorn occurs this weekend.

Solar eclipses are powerful New Moons that are triggered when planets make aspects to the eclipse degree throughout the year. Solar eclipses affect events on the world stage, and the result of those events trickle down into our personal lives.  So, understanding Capricorn energy is essential to working with this energy proactively.

I recently attended a webinar on Pluto that was given by preeminent astrologer Liz Greene.  While discussing the sign of Capricorn, she referred to it as a ‘meritocracy,’ and I find this term to be a valid description of the sign of the goat. Capricorn wants us to earn and achieve through effort, struggles, and hardship; laziness and handouts are suspect and rarely valued.  So, as we move towards the eclipse begin to look at what you can genuinely earn this year and how you can work to build a life you love.

Additionally, Capricorn governs the structures and foundations of society or more simply put the laws and rules we have created to live in a civilized society.  This week, earthy Capricorn is at odds with fiery Aries energy that reflects personal ambitions and achievements and views our societal structures as limiting and restrictive.  This conflict can lead to struggle in our lives, especially on the professional front.  It may be necessary to keep your guard up and choose your battles carefully.

Now, on with the forecast…

Monday, December 31, 2018:

We begin the week with Mars moving out of Pisces and into its own sign of Aries.  Mars in Aries is about personal desire and ambition, and this is an auspicious time to look at what you would like to achieve over the next year.  However, practically speaking, you may find yourself at odds with those around you.  Rather than using this energy combatively, use it as our source of inspiration that will churn your ambitions.

Tuesday, January 1, 2019:

Happy New Year!  As I mentioned earlier, the New Year starts off with a difficult conjunction between the Sun and Saturn.  Sun-Saturn aspects bring up issues of responsibilities and duties, and at times, may feel overwhelmed by them, which could lead to feelings of self-doubt.  On a more positive note, Sun-Saturn aspects can lead to professional advancement and an increase in responsibilities. If you need to plan or organize anything, now would be the time to do it.

Wednesday, January 2, 2019:

During the early morning hours, the Moon moves into fiery Sagittarius and forms a lovely trine to Mars in Aries.  Moon trine Mars is a great aspect for starting new projects and working with others.  Your leadership skills will shine throughout the day, and with the Moon in the sign of the archer, your mood will remain cheerful and optimistic.

Thursday, January 3, 2019:

The Moon continues to move through Sagittarius and slams against watery Neptune in Pisces. Mild confusion could be the source of headaches during the early morning hours.  Make sure you communicate clearly and effectively to avoid miscommunication issues.

Friday, January 4, 2019:

We have two aspects to deal with on Friday – Mercury trine Uranus and the Sun sextile Neptune.  Sun sextile Neptune aspects are good for creative and spiritual work.  If you need a self-check on the condition of your soul, Friday would be the day to do it.  Back on planet earth, Mercury in trine to Uranus will make you feel more alive and your mental prowess will be at an all-time high.  You may even resolve problems that have eluded you in the past.  Seek out people that stimulate you because they may motivate your future achievements.

The Weekend:

It’s solar eclipse Saturday! I’ve already discussed the importance of the eclipse, especially since it lands on the midpoint of Saturn and Pluto.  This eclipse urges you to focus on what you would like to build in your life and what you need to eliminate.  Choose carefully!

See you next week…

Cosmic Weather Forecast – December 24, 2018 – December 30, 2018

Before I begin this week’s Cosmic Weather Forecast, I would like to wish all those that celebrate a very Merry Christmas.  I hope that your holiday is filled with happiness and joy.

Be on your guard this week because of one of the worst astrological aspects that could happen before a major holiday is going to take place when the communicator planet, Mercury, forms a challenging square to slipper Neptune.  Mercury square Neptune could make the entire week challenging, so pay close attention to Monday’s forecast.

Later in the week, Venus in Scorpio forms an opportunistic sextile to Pluto in Capricorn, which could be a gamer changer for relationships.

Now, on with the forecast…

Cosmic Weather Forecast – December 17 – December 23, 2018

So, last week we had only one astrological aspect, and this week we have a cosmic stampede with four aspects and the beginning of Capricorn season.

Once again, Jupiter is the week’s major planet.  Jupiter is our inner optimism planet and since he is concerned with potentials and possibilities, the best way to work with this week’s energy is doing goal and intention work.  So, spend some time this week focusing on what you would like to achieve next year, just make sure that your goals are realistic, achievable, and that you are willing to put forth the effort to make them happen.

Later in the week, we enter Capricorn season.  The expansive energies of Sagittarius enter the world of reality, which can often feel dense, and at times, depressing.  However, Capricorn rewards you if you endure the hardships of life that make you stronger and more reliant, but to receive those rewards, we first need to accept personal responsibility for the bulk of our actions.  The good news is that once we can see that our actions lead to our successes and failures, we can begin to make new decisions that get us the results we desire.  It may take time, patience, grit, and determination, but under the sign of Capricorn, anything is possible, as long you put forth the work to achieve it.

Cosmic Weather Forecast – December 10, 2018 – December 16, 2018

Brace yourself!  After months of challenging aspects and more retrogrades than I can count, we enter a two-week cycle of nothing but positive aspects.

Can I get an amen, over here?

This week there are very few changes in the cosmos.  There is one sign change when Mercury moves into Sagittarius on Wednesday and one planetary aspect on Sunday as Venus in Scorpio sextiles Saturn in Capricorn.

So, it’s going to be short and sweet this week, but the upsurge of positive energy will be a welcomed relief.

Now on with the forecast…

Monday, December 10, 2018

The Moon moves through responsible Capricorn, and it’s time to dig in and get to work.  Projects and business-related activities are good to focus on while the Moon is in the sign of the goat.  During the late afternoon, you may want to pursue your agenda, but social pressures may interfere, which may cause a bit of tension.  Matters will improve once the Moon moves into Aquarius.

Tuesday, December 11, 2018

The Moon moves into Aquarius, and your focus will move to the great big world around you.  Connecting with friends and associates is a positive use of Aquarius’ social energy. Invite someone to a coffee shop or for dinner.  Communicating with like-minded people will revitalize your soul.

Wednesday, December 12, 2018

Mercury moves back into Sagittarius, the sign where Mercury went retrograde in November.  You may need to control your hold on spending while Mercury moves through the sign of the archer.  Sagittarius likes things to be larger than life but leave that to philosophical beliefs and big picture goals and not y our credit card balances.  Otherwise, the Moon forms a lovely sextile to the Sun, so overall it should be a good day.

Thursday, December 13, 2018

The Moon moves into emotionally sensitive Pisces during the early morning hours. Pisces is about charity and compassion, so reaching out to people in need or doing something in your community. This will evoke Piscean energy wisely, and you will find you feel better for doing it.  However, later this evening you need to put up your emotional shields, or you might go into overload.

Friday, December 14, 2018

The Moon continues to move through the sign of the fish throughout the day.  Try to get as much as you can get done during the morning hours because the Moon’s conjunction to nebulous Neptune may make it difficult to concentrate during the afternoon.  A positive way to work with Moon-Neptune energy is to take in a good movie, to listen to music, or doing spiritual work.  It’s best to leave the tough stuff for another day.

The Weekend:

On Saturday, the Moon spends most of the day void of course.  It’s not a good day to start anything new, so put your feet up and relax.  Perhaps some personal time is in order.  During the evening hours, the Moon moves into fiery Aries, and your energy levels will begin to return to normal.  Saturday evening is great for socializing and spending time out with others.  Put on those disco shoes and head out on the town.

The only astrological aspect of the week occurs on Sunday when Venus in Scorpio sextiles Saturn in Capricorn.  If you experienced relationship issues during Venus and Mercury retrograde, Sunday is a great day to work things out and cruise into the holidays without any lingering tension.

See you next week…

Cosmic Weather Forecast – December 3 – December 9, 2018

So, you might want to invest in a wetsuit and a snorkel because a flood of Neptunian proportions is coming.  For the first time in several months, Neptune is the player of the week.  Now for those of you that are not in the astrological know, Neptune rules idealisms, dreams, and the collective creative flow, but it can also reflect deceptions, dishonest behavior, and self-destructive tendencies – and with Jupiter, Neptune’s ruler, being in Sagittarius, the biggest form of deception may be the lies we tell ourselves.

You see, Sagittarius is about potentials and possibilities, and the energy of Sagittarius season can be childlike with deeply held beliefs regarding the way life should be.  This can lead to problems because to win at life; you must come down to earth and live in the real world.

In the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, there is a profound quote that is worth mentioning: “My serenity is inversely proportional to my expectations.” (pg. 452) I find this quote revealing because a frequent theme in my consultations involve unrealistic expectations and the hurt and disappointment that my clients feel when things do not turn out the way they imagined it would, which is what happens when Neptune’s energy is dominate.

Idealized expectations can be a toxic poison, especially in relationships.  It strips our partners of their individuality, and they become projections of our expectations, and when real life encroaches – and it always does – we are left bitter and disillusioned because our life doesn’t turn out the way we expect it.

Be on guard this week for unrealistic expectations.  If you find yourself upset, hurt, or disappointed in others, check to see if you developed expectations that may be based in fantasy rather than reality.  Often feeling the deepest level of truth can lead you towards the happiness you deserve, but it also means allowing people to be who they are meant to be themselves.

Now on with the forecast…

Monday, December 3, 2018

The Moon moves through the last degrees of fair and balanced Libra and forms an opposition with Uranus.  Someone else’s selfish behaviors may rile you up and make you tense and anxious.  Try to keep from allowing others to steal your happiness and joy.

The Moon moves into Scorpio during the afternoon hours and forms a lovely conjunction to Venus.  This evening is great to spend with a romantic partner or simply doing things that give you pleasure.

Tuesday, December 4, 1018

The Moon continues to move through Scorpio throughout the day and forms only positive aspects – a sextile to Saturn, a trine to Mars, and a trine to Neptune. Tuesday is great for business activities and putting together strategy plans.  If you do creative work, the afternoon hours are when you will shine. Overall, this is one of the best days of the week, cosmically speaking.

Wednesday, December 5, 2018

On Wednesday, the Sun in Sagittarius will form a challenging square to Neptune in Pisces.  You may feel that you have little energy and are overwhelmed by circumstances in your life right now.  This could leave you feeling low on energy, and your self-confidence may be at an all-time low.  Avoid taking on more than you can handle because you will have little power to achieve the results you desire.

A positive way to deal with Sun square Neptune is to do creative based or spiritually related activities.  Maybe go to a movie, enjoy some good music, or a couple of meditation sessions could help relieve some of the Neptunian muddle and put you in a better mindset to tackle the rest of the of the week.

Thursday, December 6, 2018

Good News!  Mercury goes direct on Thursday in Scorpio.  So, all the things that you have put off until Mercury went direct, you can begin after 4:22 PM EST.

Mercury in Scorpio is about digging beneath the surface and getting to the root of the matter.  It’s great for detective work, research, and solving problems that need a dash of intuitive finesse.  Additionally, Mercury in Scorpio gives you the ability to understand the motives and intentions of those around you.

Mercury remains in the sign of the scorpion until December 12, 2018.

Friday, December 7, 2018

During the early morning hours, we have a New Moon in Sagittarius.  Sagittarius New Moons are great for goal setting, and this is a great time to look at what you would like to achieve in 2019.  The only hiccup is the New Moon in square to Neptune, which can often cloud matters.  The way to manage this is to make sure your goals are realistic and achievable, even if you need to break them up into smaller blocks that motivate you to take on more until you achieve your goals intended results.

Also, on Friday, Mars conjoins Neptune in Pisces.  Like earlier in the week when the Sun squared Neptune, this combination of planets makes us feel worn out, and as a result, we become easily discouraged and irritable.  Do not plan anything of importance on Friday, if you can avoid it.

A productive use of Mars conjunct Neptune is to do something positive for others.  This will help uplift your spirit and break any negative emotions you may be feeling.  Not to mention, ‘tis the season.

The Weekend

The Moon spends the weekend in responsible Capricorn.  Capricorn Moon’s are great for anything that requires focus, concentration, or a bit of extra effort.  On Saturday, the Moon forms a lovely sextile to Venus, which is great for relationships.  Spend some time with your significant other, perhaps a night on the town or even a movie will bring the two of you emotionally closer together.  If you have creative tasks that need to get done before the holidays, Sunday would be a great time to get them done and out of the way.

See you next week…

Cosmic Weather Forecast – November 26, 2018 – December 2, 2018

So, for the past few weeks, we have had minimal amounts of astrological aspects to deal with, but this week makes up for it with six major aspects and two sign changes.

What a way to start the holiday season, right?

The major player this week is Mercury who continues to move backward in Sagittarius. Retrograde planets force us to analyze (re-analyze) what has worked for us in the past, and to decide what doesn’t.  Mercury in Sagittarius is amplified because Sagittarius is one of the two signs that help us analyze our ideas and beliefs about life.  As the week progresses, take note of the events that occur because they will be guideposts to help you decide what is best for your future.  Mercury in Sagittarius allows you to have a solid plan of action as you prepare for the New Year.

Remember, we do not make changes while Mercury is retrograde, we make them when Mercury goes direct and out of shadow, which is on Christmas Day (December 25th).

Now, on with the forecast…

Monday, November 26, 2018

The week starts off with a pair of aspects that occur during the early morning hours – Sun conjunct Jupiter and Mercury retrograde square Mars.

Ordinarily, the Sun conjunct Jupiter is one of the most positive days of the year.  This aspect expands how you view your life and gives you something to look forward to, but with Mercury and Mars in the mix, I am concerned.

Mercury square Mars tends to get involved in arguments and fights, and the more you need to stand up for your beliefs, the more forceful you will become.  You may feel challenged by others, which may make you irritable.  So, you could easily fly off the handle if someone annoys you too much, and you could easily react by taking them to task. It’s best not to take anything personal over the next few days. Additionally, Mercury square Mars is susceptible to accidents, so watch what you are doing carefully.

Tuesday, November 27, 2018

Tuesday brings us a whopping three aspects – Sun conjunct Mercury retrograde, Mars sextile Saturn, and Mercury retrograde conjunct Jupiter.

The hostile energy from Monday will continue to leak into Tuesday, so it might be best to avoid people as much as possible and focus on the positive energy that is available. First off, if you have projects that require an extra bit of effort, today would be a great day to tackle them.  Any effort you put into anything you do will have a positive impact on your future.  Otherwise, spend the bulk of your day looking at your big picture objectives because Mercury retrogrades power of reflection will uncover details you may have missed, which will help you feel better about your personal trajectory. On a good note, overall, Tuesday should be a good day.

Wednesday, November 28, 2018

The Moon moves through regal Leo on Wednesday but makes no aspects until the early morning on Thursday, which is a lovely sextile to Venus.  It’s a good day to pamper yourself and do something enjoyable. Later this evening, you may want to have a date night with your significant other or children. If you are single, put your feet up and relax a little; after all, you deserve it.

Thursday, November 29, 2018

Thursday is another lunar day, but the Moon will move out of Leo and into practical Virgo. You may find it difficult to stay focused on your activities with the Moon-forming difficult aspects to Mercury and Jupiter through mid-afternoon.  Mercury will distract you and Jupiter would rather do something fun, so tasks and responsibilities may be difficult to manage.  Thursday evening would be good for a night in because the lunar aspects continue to be challenging.

Friday, November 30, 2018

Friday brings us one of the most difficult days of the year for relationships with Venus in opposition to Uranus.

Venus-Uranus aspects are notorious for breakups.  If your relationship is on rocky ground, then you may want to stay alert.  You see, this aspect brings up your personal (or your partners) ambivalence and even the best of relationships get stale from time to time, but the default mode of this aspect is to focus on the behaviors of your partner and how they are not fulfilling your needs, rather than admit your own boredom.  So, unresolved tensions easily rise to the surface that may cause disappointments, and for many, the need to be free of your relationship.

The key to working with Venus oppose Uranus constructively is to bring new elements into your relationship so it is exciting again.  Do something to break up the monotony of day-to-day living.  A little fun and enjoyment is often the most powerful love potion for struggling relationships.

The Weekend:

This weekend both Mercury and Venus move into Scorpio.  These sign changes present us with an opportunity to peak under the veil of your life and see things for how they are rather than the false constructs you create in your mind.  Otherwise, the weekend should go rather smoothly with the Moon moving through Libra, and it is a great time to get holiday shopping out of the way.

See you next week…

Cosmic Weather Forecast – November 19, 2018 – November 25, 2018

So, have you noticed that people’s attitudes change during the holiday season?  The bitterness and divisiveness of the midterm elections fade away, and hope and good will towards man emerges; although, one could claim it is because of the rum-laced goodies.  However, the answer is explained through astrology because the bulk of the holiday season happens during Sagittarius season, which by the way, begins this week.

In Kabbalah, Sagittarius season is the month of miracles.  The word for Sagittarius in Aramaic means rainbow, and of course, biblically the rainbow is associated with the story of Noah’s Ark.  After the great deluge (Scorpio), God creates a rainbow as a spiritual force that counterbalances judgment.  So, the regeneration and transformation that occurs while the Sun is in Scorpio are replaced by a rainbow, the symbol of hope and new beginnings.

Now ‘miracles’ is a curious word.  Many religious philosophies believe it is something granted without any form of effort, like a cosmic lotto.  But there is much more to miracles than simply coincidence. The mystical sages teach us that by connecting with the natural laws of the universe, you create your own miracles, which is receiving to share with others and being compassionate rather than judgmental.  Essentially miracles, like the word luck, are fundamentally Jupiterian (ruler of Sagittarius), and are created by understanding the natural laws of the universe, to tap into your intuition so that you can make the most of opportunities.

Welcome to Sagittarius season! Now, on with the forecast…

Monday, November 19, 2018

Thanksgiving week begins with the week’s only major aspect – Mars square Jupiter.  Mars square Jupiter is an energy powerhouse, so you will need to pay attention to everything around you, especially since this aspect is known to be accident prone.

Both Mars and Jupiter are fiery planets, and they tend to focus on the future rather than the present because potential and possibility are all that matters.  Mars-Jupiter aspects are good for project planning, examining goals, and aspiring to be better than you are now, but they are also impulsive, and its best to try to curb reckless behaviors as much as possible.  Additionally, try not to push yourself too much because fires rage, but they also burn out, and so may you.

Tuesday, November 20, 2018

The Moon moves through Aries continuing the potent energy from Monday.  There will be some minor hiccups when the Moon opposes Venus and Uranus.

During the morning hours, difficulties with others may occur, especially if they thwart you from getting what you want.  Try to avoid confrontation for now because Mars square Uranus could inflame the situation beyond control.  Later Tuesday afternoon, the Moon will conjoin Uranus, and you may feel anxious and on edge.  The good news is that the Moon quickly moves into Taurus and thorny emotions calm down.

Wednesday, November 21, 2018 After two raucous days, the Moon in Taurus should settle things down rather smoothly.  Wednesday is a great day for business with the Moon forming a lovely trine to Saturn. On Wednesday evening, the Moon forms another beneficial aspect, this time to Neptune, so it’s a great evening to rest and relax before Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Day – Thursday, November 22, 2018

Keep in mind that Mercury is retrograde, and communication snafus are bound to happen.  However, during the early morning hours, the Sun moves into festive Sagittarius, which should keep the mood positive.  The Moon moves through Taurus, so your dinner should be delicious, and you can even have some guilt-free seconds and an extra slice of pumpkin pie.  Save some cheesecake for me!

Friday, November 23, 2018

The Full Moon occurs on Friday in Gemini, the sign of the twins.  New Moons are the astrological time of the month to bring in the new, and Full Moons augur getting rid of the old, based on the Moon’s sign.  The main theme of Gemini is communication and thinking because essentially Gemini is a mental sign.

The Full Moon in Gemini will show you the areas of your life where communication may be difficult or problematic, which is amplified by Mercury retrograde.  So, pay close attention over the next few days because areas that need focus will come to your attention rather clearly.  The Full Moon in Gemini is a powerful time to remove blocks between yourself and others; after all, the main purpose for communication is to develop relationships.

Friday is also the biggest shopping day of the year.  The Moon moves through Gemini, but forms only challenging aspects, which could make shopping lines long and aggravating. You might be wise to leave shopping for another day.

The Weekend:

If you saved black Friday shopping until the weekend, Saturday is decent.  Although the Moon remains in Gemini, it forms a lovely trine to Venus in Libra.  Libra loves peace and harmony, so engaging with other shoppers will be more comfortable.

On Sunday, the Moon moves into emotional cancer, and the comfort of your home may be your best bet. After an intense week, a day of relaxation may be in order.

Happy Thanksgiving!  See you next week.
